There is limited access to this room for wheelchair users due to the cabinets and tight corners from the Great Hall. Items from the exhibition can be brought out and shown to visitors in the Great Hall upon request.

These are open-access sessions, with no need to attend all of them, but continuity does help. Please book all dates that you wish to attend.
Rosie is a great leader and runs the Calstock Rubber Band – and is even a Cornish bard!
With Callington hosting the Gorsedh this September Rosie’s workshops will concentrate on playing local Cornish tunes associated with local places and events, including the new tune that Cotehele is using for their new Celebrate the Blossom festival. We’ll also revisit some old favourites. All instrumentalists are welcome, and let’s have some fun playing together.
All bookings are ‘Pay What You Feel’ – you choose how much you would like to donate.
All support is highly valuable for enabling Callington Community Arts to offer these workshops each year.
Please note that you can only book one ticket at a time. To book more than one ticket requires separate bookings and payments.

Karen, 17, on her parents: loving and lovable; secret devotees of University Challenge. Oh, and they’re cops.
Karen’s parents, on Karen: fearless cycling champion; a sweet-natured young lady.
Karen’s parents are worried. She won’t come out of her bedroom. Which is odd, given she’s such a go-getter. Odder still is what she’s doing in there…
A poignant rites-of-passage story from acclaimed writer Jon Welch.
Reviews of ‘Bike’ at the Edinburgh Fringe: “Beautifully realised by a terrific cast, it’s a piece of perfection from writer, Jon Welch.”
“A stunning piece. Draws the audience in with a light but sure touch, then turns on a sixpence to move through the darkest of territory before an astonishing and beautiful coup de theatre.”
This performance is subsidised by Carn to Cove, Cornwall’s Performing Arts scheme for rural communities.

Espen Eriksen Trio is one of the most popular piano trios in Europe. With it’s highly melodic and lyrical instrumentals and “less is more” approach, the trio is often credited for its unique voice within today’s jazz scene by the international press. To quote BBC in their review of the trio’s second album “A wonderfully plaintive jazz record, abandoned to the lost art of melodic minimalism, stripped back and beautifully near bare. No smoke and mirrors, just the graceful chemistry of superb musicians at the top of their game”.

Following a chance meeting at Whitby Folk Festival in 1993, Chris Sherburn (Concertina) and Denny Bartley (Vocals and Guitar) have been bringing their unique sound to audiences across Europe and America, creating one of folk music’s most enduring partnerships. Their obvious rapport made them one of the busiest acts on the folk scene, both as a duo and with their well-loved band, Last Night’s Fun. Their soul-stirring songs, exhilarating tunes and quick-witted banter ensures that no two concerts are ever the same.

Re-live the magic of the 2003 Pixar film, with Finding Nemo Jr. live on stage brought to you by the incredible talents of Sterts Youth Theatre Company
Marlin, an anxious and over-protective clownfish, lives in the Great Barrier Reef with his kid Nemo, who longs to explore the world beyond their anemone home. But when Nemo is captured and taken to Sydney, Marlin faces his fears and sets off on an epic adventure across the ocean. With the help of lovable characters such as optimistic Dory, laid-back sea turtle Crush, and the supportive Tank Gang, Marlin and Nemo both overcome challenges on their journey to find each other and themselves.
Featuring memorable songs such as “Just Keep Swimming,” “Fish Are Friends Not Food,” and “Go With the Flow” Finding Nemo JR. brings a vibrant underwater world to life on stage in a story full of family, friendship, and adventure that is top entertainment for ALL ages!
This production is 60 minutes long with no interval. Liskeard School seating is on a flat floor so bringing cushions/booster is recommended for smaller audience members.

Event Details
Two wealthy families, the Montagues and the Capulets, are at war. Their feud has been long and bitter. But when Romeo, Montague’s son, gatecrashes Capulet’s party in disguise, everything changes. There he meets Juliet, Capulet’s daughter, and the pair fall into an intense, forbidden love that sets in motion a chain of events leading to a devastating conclusion. From a secret rendezvous in a moonlit garden to a fateful duel under the scorching Verona sun, Shakespeare masterfully explores the enduring power of love, revenge and fate in one of his bestloved stories. But the surprising thing about this iconic tragedy is that it’s extremely funny too! Performed by Illyria in the great outdoors, this fastpaced, polished, beautifully spoken production has been created using only the First Folio text, the most authoritative edition of Shakespeare’s plays. Illyria first performed this terrific play more than two decades ago to critical acclaim worldwide. This summer it returns for a third time: passionate, poetic, and utterly gripping! Running time (approx): 140-minutes (including a 20-minute interval). Suitable for all ages.

Welcome to the Curious Creatures wildlife park, established by Jeremiah Johnson: world-renowned explorer, zoologist and animal collector. Nobody knows more about animals than him.
Unfortunately, Jeremiah Johnson is currently lost somewhere in the jungles of Africa, so he has handed the running of the park over to his inexperienced nephew Craig… and things don’t quite go as planned.
Expect to meet curious creatures of all shapes and sizes: from performing fleas, skateboarding snails and gymnastic gerbils to irritable alligators, over-excited elephants, and a very intelligent orang-utan!
Learn about how animals evolved, how their amazing adaptations help them survive in the wild, and how animals can help us learn more about ourselves. After all, we’re all related if you go back far enough!
Using puppets, comedy, slapstick and live music – plus lots of amazing natural history facts – Squashbox Theatre will uncover the mysteries of the animal kingdom.
(No animals were harmed in the making of this show. But several puppets were mildly traumatised.)
For children aged 5 and their families (younger children welcome) Curious Creatures is 50 mins long.

Doctor Dolittle leads a simple life as the village doctor in sleepy Puddleby-On-The-Marsh. He often undercharges his patients, or even treats them for free, so he is terribly poor. But one day, with the help of his wise old parrot Polynesia, he makes an extraordinary discovery: that he can talk to animals.
As news of his talent as an animal doctor spreads, animals across the world send messages asking for his help. So he borrows a leaky old ship and embarks on a thrilling quest to cure illness, spread kindness, and better understand animals everywhere. He is joined on his adventures by a loyal animal crew: Jip (a dog), Chee-Chee (a monkey), Dab Dab (a duck), and Gub Gub (an everhungry, cake-loving pig) – who together may even help him fix his money problems once and for all!
Hugh Lofting’s timeless classic celebrates the power of empathy and inspires audiences young and old to see the world through the eyes of animals. This funny, exciting family musical is performed with flair and wit by Illyria in the great outdoors.
Running time (approx): 110-minutes (including a 20-minute interval). Suitable for ages 5 (younger children also welcome).
