Lawrence House Museum

Delightful local museum, situated in a fine Georgian house, contains themed rooms on 3 floors & a wonderful garden with fine views, ideal for picnics on fine days.

Rooms feature local history, Launceston at war, a scale model of the old Southern Railway Station, a toy room with toys to play with and one dedicated to Launceston's famous sons,: John Couch Adams, astromomer & discoveror of Neptune, Philip Gidley King, early Governor of New South Wales, Charles Causley, poet & broadcaster and William Wise, herbalist & plant collector.

Tavistock Town Council

Tavistock Town Council is responsible for the museums and gardens of Tavistock and for the pannier market.

Launceston Steam Railway

Victorian locomotives haul your train through the beautiful Kensey Valley to Newmills. Ride all day if you wish, tickets valid for unlimited travel. Five mile round trip with café, shop and museum.

Tavistock Music and Arts Festival

Launceston Town Hall and Guildhall

Launceston Town Hall was built in 1887, and completely refurbished in 2010.  The main hall is ideal for weddings, theatre productions, films, exhibitions, balls, dinners, dances, concerts, , fashion shows, private parties, fetes & fayres.   We have 18 round tables which seat up to ten, 300 comfortable red and gilt chairs, and 22 black and gilt chairs.  Trestle tables and other chairs are also available.  All hires include use of our cutlery, crockery and glasses if required. Full disabled access. Fully disabled access throughout.

Burrator Reservoir View of Burrator

Undisturbed Burrator is surrounded by mixed woodland which sharply contrasts with the open moor and rugged Dartmoor tors. The reservoir is popular with walkers, cyclists and horse riders due to its wealth of footpaths and bridleways. Many of the trails lead on to Dartmoor so it makes an ideal starting point for longer trips.
